Philosophy

Philosophy

Our philosophy of education is based upon the whole language and development approach which is conducive for age appropriate learning. In order to achieve this philosophy, an integrated thematic curriculum is implemented. The curriculum is made up of weekly themes and are conducted in our various educational centers such as: Art Center, Block Center, Book & Puzzle Center, Dramatic Play Center, and Science Center. These centers provide many opportunities for the children to develop academic and social skills. ¬†Future Scholars Preschool Inc. provides an honest commitment to each child’s individual differences and an understanding that young children learn best when learning is meaningful to them. Learning is based on live and vibrant firsthand experiences which are designed to develop children’s self-esteem and positive feelings toward learning. To promote the learning process, age appropriate activities are offered and provided within an environment that is enriching, encouraging, and nurturing.

Learning Centers

Young children learn through play. Our educational centers help promote this philosophy.

Block Center

Blocks and accessories are ideal to help children imagine worlds they can arrange. The child solves problems, gains confidence, shares and converses with other children as they build. Block building is also important for the development of coordination and fine motor skills.

Dramatic Play Center

Children love to make believe they are a part of the adult world. They dress-up, role play, and imagine what they wish to do and to be. Socialization, self- expression and sharing are also developed in our dramatic play center.

Math Center

A strong mathematical foundation is based on first-hand experiences. Manipulating and counting concrete things help develop confidence in mathematic understanding. In our Math Center, activities such as classifying, matching, weighing, comparing, sequencing, correspondence, grouping, sorting, stacking, etc. reinforce math skills.

Art Center

A child’s creative expression is unique. Children express feelings and ideas on a variety of media that we provide. Great satisfaction and pride comes with each child when they create, combine colors, and make projects of their own.

Book Center

Storytime is important time of the day. Children learn vocabulary and language. To develop communication, discussions about our literature are encouraged. In our book center, the young child can review books and retell the stories to themselves and others; thus the child forms a positive view of reading.

Puzzle Center

In our Puzzle Center, children can select puzzles. This aids in problem-solving, comparing sizes and shapes, increasing fine motor skills, and eye-hand coordination. Children love to complete them. A job well done!

Science Table

At our Science Table, we want to encourage children to view nature with respect, sensitivity, and an understanding of the world around them. Science experiments, water/sand play, and viewing insects, animals and plants are all included in our science curriculum.

Creative Movement and Exercise

Whether indoors or outdoors, children have many opportunities throughout the day to use their gross motor skills: jumping, skipping, running, dancing, etc. This increases balance and coordination. This is a fun time for social interaction. Children love to sing and hear songs. From our Good Morning song to our finger- plays on our Magic Carpet, children develop language, listening skills, and much, much more.
