October 2018 Newsletter

As Elizabeth Lawrence suggests “everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn”. October brings lots of opportunity for exploration and memory making. Here at FSP we are doing both! Our Preschool classrooms are learning a lot about themselves and others while researching emotions, diversity and friendships. They are also enjoying the autumn activities and songs. Our toddler classroom has been enjoying the gathering together with friends to learn new songs, dance and stories. They are also enjoying exploring around the room

Halloween Festivities

Our annual Halloween celebration is scheduled for Thursday, October 25th from 10:00am-11:30am. All children who attend Future Scholars Preschool are invited to the party. We invite you to sign up for our Halloween Festivities, if it is not your child’s scheduled day so we can staff accordingly. The sign up sheet is available at the front desk. Please have your child wear their costume to school over their clothes. Please no guns, swords, shields, wands or other types of weapons. The children will parade around the school, engage in holiday literacy activities and challenge the mind with interactive games and activities.

People in Our Neighborhood

During the month of October, we will be discussing safety precautions and having a visit from the Tiverton Fire Department. The fire fighters will be here on Thursday, 10/11 to share their knowledge and some equipment. A police officer from the Tiverton Police Department will visit the center to speak to us about stranger danger and Halloween safety. On Friday, 10/19, Ms Meg from the Tiverton Library will read us a story and inform us about exciting events and happenings in the children’s room at the library. Ms. Faith from Faith’s House of Style will be here on Tuesday, 10/23 for Hairdo Day. Haircuts for boys and girls are $10.00, bangs trimmed $3.00, braids $5.00 and Princess Do’s $10.00. Please make sure all gratuities are provided in cash the day of the haircut. All proceeds go directly to Ms. Faith.

Columbus Day

The center will be open Monday, October 8th for Columbus Day. Please sign the holiday signup sheet, available at the front desk, to best assist with staffing.

Preschool Presentation Night

Soaring and Exploring

Attention Preschool Parents (P4 and P5)! Please join us on Tuesday, 10/30 from 5:00pm -6:00pm for an opportunity to meet the dynamic team of educators and explore the enhanced curriculum while you experience a day in the life of your child. We encourage adults only for this experience. Fall Treats served.

Fire Safety

Just a little bit of planning can make a big difference for your family. During fire safety week we teach the “3P’s” of fire safety..

*Prepare- reduce the risk of fires in your home by eliminating hazards. * Practice - practice home fire evacuation plan and general fire safety * Prevent the unthinkable

Gentle Reminders

*Please be sure your child has at least one complete set of season appropriate clothes in their cubby in the event of an accident or if your child’s clothes get dirty throughout the day’s activities. This ensures extra clothing is always available for their use. *Please label all belongings with your child’s first and last name. *Please pack a sealed milk box, juice box, juice pouch or sealed water bottle with your child’s lunch. Please no sippy cups, filled thermos or filled hydration bottles. *If foods need to be heated, please pack them separately from other non-heatable foods.

Notice how the trees do not cling to their leaves. Fall is about releasing the old to make way for the new.
