FAQs

Is there a student/teacher ratio?

We are a RI DCYF licensed preschool. According to regulations, the student teacher ratio is as follows below:

  • Infant room: 4:1

  • Toddler room 6:1

  • 3 year olds 9:1

  • 4 Year olds 10:1

  • 5 year olds 12:1

Can I call the Center to inform the staff that someone other than those on my child’s authorized pickup list is going to pick-up my child?

For security and safety reasons we cannot allow additions to the authorized pick-up list to be made via phone or email. You must fill out the necessary forms BEFORE anyone else can take your child. We cannot take changes in the authorized pickup list via phone or email.

Is the staff trained in CPR and First aid?

Our staff is trained regularly in CPR and first aid as required by the state of RI.

What is your discipline policy?

Discipline is administered through positive reinforcement, redirection and reflection and by setting clear limits. Should a child exhibit inappropriate behavior, he/she is approached by a teacher to discuss the child’s behavior. If necessary, the child is then escorted to a designated “reflection” area in the classroom based on the age of the child-no longer than one minute per year. This allows the child to reflect on his/her actions before returning to the group. There is continuous supervision by staff during redirection.

Do you offer a discount to siblings?

If you have more than one child at FSP, your oldest child’s tuition will receive a 10% discount.

How does FSP communicate with their families?

At Future Scholars we believe that strong communication builds strong relationships. Our teachers connect with families at drop-off and pick-up to share updates, celebrate milestones, and discuss important information about your child’s day. Each family receives a paper copy of important information like napping details, bathroom and potty-training updates, special events coming up, and the day’s activities. In addition to in-person conversations, we also use our classroom app, Remind, to provide classroom updates, photos, and more. This combination of personal interaction and digital communication helps ensure families always feel informed, involved, and connected to their child’s classroom experience.
